What knowledge do you need to know about sweaters

As the seasons change, the cold of winter has quietly passed away, and the footsteps of spring are gradually approaching. We also took off our heavy winter clothes and switched to lightweight spring clothes. However, facing the sweaters that accompany us through the cold winter, how to properly clean and store them to keep them warm and new the next winter has become a major challenge for us.

Many people often find that washing machines can cause great damage to sweaters when washing them, causing them to deform, shrink, and even harden.

So, how to keep the sweater as new during the washing process? Let’s learn together!

1. Controlling water temperature is the key to washing sweaters.

High or low water temperature can cause damage to the texture and shape of a sweater. High water temperature can cause the fibers of the sweater to relax, leading to deformation and shrinkage, while low water temperature may not be able to thoroughly clean the stains on the sweater.

Therefore, when using a washing machine to wash sweaters, we should control the water temperature between 15-30 ℃, which can ensure the cleaning effect and reduce damage to the sweater.

2.Choosing the right detergent is important.

Many people often use ordinary laundry detergent or laundry detergent when washing sweaters. However, these detergents are too alkaline and can easily damage the fibers of the sweater, causing it to shrink or harden.

Therefore, when washing sweaters, we should choose specialized sweater detergents, such as protein cleaners. This detergent has biological activity and can gently clean soft clothing such as wool and silk, minimizing damage to clothing.

3. Put a laundry bag on the sweater.

In a washing machine, sweaters may deform due to excessive tension. And laundry bags can to some extent reduce this tension and protect the shape of the sweater.

At the same time, the laundry bag can also prevent friction between the sweater and other clothes with zippers or hooks, thereby avoiding damage to the sweater. Therefore, when washing sweaters, we can put them in laundry bags to ensure they are not damaged.

4. Avoid using a washing machine to spin dry sweaters.

During the spin drying process, sweaters containing moisture will be stretched and deformed under the action of inertial force. Therefore, after washing in the washing machine, we need to take out the sweater and gently squeeze it dry with our hands. When squeezing dry, excessive pulling and twisting of the sweater should be avoided to avoid damaging its shape.

After squeezing, the sweater can be laid flat in a dry and ventilated place to air dry naturally, which can also maintain the shape and texture of the sweater.

5. Pay attention to the details of air drying.

When drying sweaters, we also need to pay attention to some details. Avoid exposing the sweater directly to sunlight, as strong sunlight can cause the color of the sweater to fade. Also, be careful not to hang the sweater on the hanger to dry, as this may cause deformation of the shoulders and neckline of the sweater.

The correct method is to lay the sweater flat in a dry and ventilated place, or use a specialized sweater drying rack to dry it. This can ensure that the sweater maintains its original shape during the drying process.

6. Keep the storage environment dry and ventilated.

When storing sweaters, it is important to ensure a dry and ventilated storage environment to prevent them from becoming damp and moldy. It is best to stack the sweater neatly and place it in a dedicated storage box or wardrobe to avoid compression and deformation. In addition, some moisture-proof agents or camphor balls can be placed in storage boxes or wardrobes to prevent sweaters from getting damp and insect infestations.
