Pure cotton

Natural fabric, comfortable to wear, breathable, warm, but prone to wrinkles, difficult to maintain, poor durability, and easy fading. So very few fabrics with 100% cotton are called pure cotton, usually containing over 95% cotton.

Advantages: Strong moisture absorption, good dyeing performance, soft touch, comfortable to wear, no static electricity generation, good breathability, anti sensitivity, simple appearance, not easy to be eaten by insects, sturdy and durable, easy to clean.

Disadvantages: high shrinkage rate, poor elasticity, easy wrinkling, poor shape retention of clothing, susceptibility to mold, slight fading, and lack of acid resistance.

Organic cotton

It is a type of cotton that uses non genetically modified cotton seeds and is produced according to organic agricultural standards and certified. The planting process does not use any chemical fertilizers or insecticides, making it environmentally friendly and pollution-free.

Advantages: Soft texture and bright color, organic cotton has much better wear resistance and elasticity than ordinary cotton, is not easy to mold, and is not allergic. It has good absorption, breathability, and warmth retention.

Disadvantages: High cost, expensive price, very average wrinkle resistance, and easy to stick hair.

modal

It is a type of cellulose fiber, belonging to the same category as human cotton, and is a pure artificial fiber.

Advantages: Excellent moisture absorption and breathability, not easily faded, not prone to yellowing, wrinkling, or shrinkage, with a natural drape and wrinkle resistance, with a silky texture and excellent texture.

Disadvantages: Extremely easy to deform, higher cost than ordinary cotton fabrics, poor wear resistance, and easy to break.

Cotton fabric

Cotton cloth is a general term for various types of cotton textiles.

Advantages: It is easy to keep warm, soft and close to the body, with excellent moisture absorption and breathability.

Disadvantages: Easy to shrink and wrinkle, not very neat and aesthetically pleasing in appearance, requiring frequent ironing when wearing.

All cotton mercerized fabric

Advantages: Cotton fabrics treated with high concentration caustic soda (wool) have a smooth feel, bright colors, and a silky luster, making them comfortable to wear.

Disadvantage: There is slight fading phenomenon.

T/C fabric (polyester/cotton)

It refers to a general term for blended fabrics of polyester and cotton, which are textiles woven from a blend of 65% -67% polyester and 33% -35% cotton yarn, commonly known as cotton. Polyester cotton blended products are generally referred to as CVC yarn when the cotton content is higher than polyester, and T/C yarn when the cotton content is higher than 65%. Products with a C/T ratio below 55/45 are generally still referred to as T/C yarn.

Fabric technology: It is made by interweaving fine denier or ultra fine denier polyvinyl acetate fibers with high count combed cotton (40 count, 60 count, 80 count, etc.).

Advantages: The fabric has a firm and smooth feel, bright colors, a body bone and elasticity, good moisture absorption and breathability, and a smooth surface with certain rainproof function.

Disadvantages: Vacuum suction, difficult to wash, unable to iron or soak at high temperatures.

Lycra (spandex)

It is a fabric made of spandex fiber (short for Spandex polyurethane fiber), also known as “pull frame” in Cantonese (Lycra’s Cantonese pronunciation), and sometimes directly referred to as “spandex fabric” in mainland China.

Advantages: Good elasticity, alkali and heat resistance.

Disadvantages: Exposure to sunlight can cause yellowing and moisture can lead to mold.

cowboy

It is a relatively thick color woven twill cotton fabric with a deep warp color, usually indigo blue, and a light weft color, usually light gray or boiled white yarn. Also known as indigo labor cloth.

Advantages: One piece of fabric can wash out infinite colors and diverse styles.

Disadvantages: Poor color fastness, severe color fading, and inability to control clothing color. Among them, thin fabric: soft to the touch, comfortable, cool, lightweight but prone to wrinkles, not wear-resistant. Thick fabric: wear-resistant, durable, washable, not easily wrinkled but hard to the touch, not easy to wash.

corduroy

A cotton fabric that is cut and raised to form longitudinal strips on the surface, named after the corduroy strips that resemble a corduroy core. Corduroy is mainly made of cotton, but also blended with synthetic fibers such as polyester, acrylic, and spandex.

Advantages: Soft texture, round and straight velvet strips, clear patterns, full fluff, and sturdy and wear-resistant texture.

Disadvantage: It is prone to tearing, especially when the tearing strength along the direction of the velvet strip is low, making it easy to stick to the wool.

Cotton and linen

A general term for cotton and linen blended fabrics. Cotton linen blend refers to a textile product made by spinning cotton and linen in a certain proportion. Cotton linen blend has advantages such as environmental protection, breathability, comfort, good drape, and comfortable wearing. Due to its good elasticity and wear resistance in both dry and wet conditions, stable size, low shrinkage rate, and the characteristics of being straight, not easily wrinkled, easy to wash, and quick drying, the fabric is woven with all natural fibers, low-carbon and environmentally friendly, which is in line with the current international trend of textile and clothing. Therefore, it is very suitable for clothing and home textile fabrics.

Advantages: Excellent breathability, quick moisture absorption and removal, lightweight and cool, while also inhibiting bacteria, mold, static electricity, radiation, and allergies.

Disadvantages: Suitable for hand washing, prone to deformation, pilling, severe color floating, easy yellowing, and fading in direct sunlight.

Hemp fiber

There are many varieties of hemp fibers, but only a few soft hemp fibers such as ramie, flax, jute, and apocynum can be used as textile fiber materials. The main component of hemp is cellulose, in addition to pectin, fat, lignin, etc.

Advantages: Strong, not easy to tear, breathable, has a unique cool feeling, and does not stick to the body when sweating; Bright in color, with good natural luster, not easy to fade or shrink; Thermal conductivity and moisture absorption are greater than cotton fabrics, with resistance to friction, high temperature, acid and alkali, mold resistance, and less susceptibility to moisture and mold; Anti moth, good anti mold, low vacuum absorption rate, and no static electricity.

Disadvantages: rough texture, not smooth and comfortable to wear, prone to wrinkles, and poor drape; Hemp fiber steel is hard and has poor adhesion. 2. Not easy to rot or burn

Linen cloth

It is a plant bast fiber that is 30% stronger and more resilient than cotton fiber.

Advantages: It is cool and comfortable, with excellent breathability and moisture absorption. It is also resistant to dirt and bacteria, not easy to pilling or fuzzing, and does not shrink. It can be machine washed and easy to maintain.

Disadvantages: The fiber characteristics of flax determine that it is prone to wrinkling, poor color fixation, slight fading, and poor dimensional stability.

Silk and linen fabric

It’s a blend of silk and linen fabric, which is relatively high-end.

Advantages: The appearance style of natural hemp fabric has a straightness, moderate drape, and good breathability.

Disadvantages: Unstable shrinkage, easy wrinkling, poor color fastness, best dry cleaning.

silk

A type of textile, woven from silk or synthetic fibers, synthetic fibers, or filaments; It is a collective term for various silk fabrics woven from silk as raw material.

Advantages: Colorful, glossy, noble and elegant, comfortable to wear, good sound absorption, dust absorption, heat resistance, UV resistance, and good moisture absorption and release.

Disadvantages: prone to wrinkles, easy to absorb, not strong enough, and fading quickly.

Tencel

It is a type of cellulose fiber that uses solvent spinning technology, with a dry strength slightly lower than polyester, but significantly higher than ordinary viscose fibers.

Fabric features: The first environmentally friendly synthetic fiber, biodegradable.

Advantages: Good strength, silk like drape and soft feel, good wrinkle resistance.

Disadvantages: Lack of elasticity, the outer layer of friction fibers will break, forming fuzz with a length of about 1-4 microns, especially in wet conditions, which is more prone to occur. In severe cases, it will also entangle into cotton particles, and the fabric will slightly harden in humid and hot environments.

real silk

Generally refers to silk, including mulberry silk, tussah silk, castor silk, cassava silk, etc. Silk is known as the “queen of fibers” and has been favored by people throughout history for its unique charm. Silk belongs to the category of protein fibers.

Advantages: Smooth feel, glossy, comfortable to wear, good breathability and drape.

Disadvantages: Poor wrinkle resistance, poor light resistance, cannot be exposed to prolonged sunlight, sensitive to alkaline reactions, and high temperature variability.

Wool polyester fabric

It refers to a fabric made of wool and polyester blended yarn, which is currently the most common type of blended wool fabric. The commonly used ratio for wool polyester blending is 45:55, which can maintain the advantages of wool while also leveraging the strengths of polyester.

Advantages: Wool and polyester blend, lightweight texture, good wrinkle recovery performance. Durable and wear-resistant, easy to wash and dry quickly, with stable size and long-lasting pleats.

Disadvantages: Lack of softness in gloss, with a hand feel between pure wool fabric and polyester imitation wool fabric.

Wool

Fine spun woolen fabric is a high-end clothing fabric made mainly of pure wool, which can also be mixed with a certain proportion of wool type chemical fibers or other natural fibers. It is processed by combing equipment technology and is processed through multiple combing, blending, stretching, spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing.

Advantages: Soft and elastic texture; Soft and natural luster, comfortable and beautiful to wear; Good moisture absorption, not easily conductive to heat; Good warmth retention and wrinkle resistance.

Disadvantage: Not alkali resistant; Severe shrinkage; Easy to wrinkle.

Woolen fabric

Also known as wool, it is a general term for fabrics woven from various types of wool and cashmere.

Advantages: wrinkle resistant and wear-resistant, soft to the touch, elegant and firm, elastic, and good insulation performance.

Disadvantage: Mainly difficult to wash.

Merino Wool

Most of them are produced in Australia, accounting for 90% of the world’s total production. The top-notch Merino wool is produced in Tasmania, Australia.

Advantages: High strength, good elasticity, soft touch, pure white color, soft luster, good fluffing properties, high density, good warmth retention, and built-in antibacterial ability.

Disadvantages: prone to pilling, shrinkage, felting reaction, wrinkling, and deformation.

Cashmere

Cashmere can be divided into two types: cashmere and sheep wool. The value of cashmere is higher than that of sheep wool. PC clothing mainly uses a thin layer of cashmere produced on the body of goats. The production of cashmere is very low, with an annual output of only 150-250 grams per goat. Its texture is soft, delicate, smooth, and glossy, which is known as “soft gold”. It is the thinnest animal fiber in the world, with an average fiber fineness of only 12-15 microns.

Advantages: It has comfortable wearing, strong warmth retention, full suede, soft touch, soft luster, and a unique style.

Disadvantages: Do not use a washing machine for cleaning, do not hook and hang when drying, improper storage can easily cause insect infestation, and improper handling can easily cause shedding.

velvet

Velvet is a type of knitted fabric with one side covered by a pile of upright fibers or yarn, with a fine and dense pile height of 1.5-5cm. It has a soft and velvet like texture, hence the name velvet.

Advantages: The color is bright and natural, the plush feel is full, and the hand feel is comfortable and soft.

Disadvantages: Accidentally stacking velvet clothing can easily damage the natural direction of the fluff, making it difficult to recover, prone to static electricity, and even small fluff particles.

Coral velvet

It is a new type of fabric. Coral velvet, as the name suggests, is a colorful and well covered textile fabric in the shape of coral.

Disadvantage: It is prone to static electricity and may cause shedding due to weaving principles. It is recommended to wash it before wearing. Due to the need to shed floating hair, it is recommended that individuals with skin allergies and asthma avoid wearing this fabric.

Fleece fleece

Shake grain plush is a type of knitted fabric with a small ingot knitted structure. The front of the fabric is brushed, and the shake grain is fluffy and dense without easy shedding or pilling. The back is brushed sparsely and evenly, with short fluff, clear texture, and excellent fluffiness and elasticity. Its composition is generally polyester, with a soft touch.

Acrylic fiber

It is an artificial fiber made of polymers, with an average molecular weight of 100000 and containing approximately 1900 monomer units. The monomer of acrylic fiber contains at least 85% acrylonitrile, and other monomers are added for copolymerization. Commonly used copolymerization molecules include vinyl acetate and methyl acrylate.

Advantages: Good elasticity, high recovery rate, superior warmth retention to wool, very soft feel, high strength, sun resistance, and good acid resistance.

Disadvantage: Lack of alkaline resistance: Extra caution should be taken when using alkaline cleaning agents during the cleaning process. Heat resistance is average. At high temperatures of approximately 190 to 230 degrees, relatively high temperatures also have a significant impact on acrylic fiber fabrics, and acrylic fibers become softer and have poor moisture absorption.

Fleece

The plush and sheared fabric on one side has a strong style and texture, with a soft and comfortable feel, good elasticity, and strong wear resistance. The fluff can store a large amount of air, so it has good insulation performance.

Looped fabric

This type of fabric has a full and thick feel, a firm and thick body, good elasticity, moisture absorption, and warmth retention, stable loop structure, and good wearability. Mainly used as fabrics for sportswear, lapel T-shirts, sleepwear, children’s clothing, etc.

Chiffon

Also known as Qiaoqi yarn, it is a type of silk fabric woven with strong twist crepe warp and weft. The warp and weft yarns are made of two different twist directions, S twist and Z twist, arranged alternately in ZS and 2Z, with plain weave arranged in a staggered manner, resulting in a very low warp and weft density of the fabric.

Advantages: Lightweight and soft, with a good natural drape, skin friendly, cool and breathable, a light and elegant appearance, and a flowing and comfortable wearing experience.

Disadvantages: After washing, it is easy to turn gray and shallow on the surface, and it will turn yellow when exposed to sunlight. It is relatively difficult to maintain, lacks firmness, is prone to sanding, and is prone to tearing at the seams.

Nylon (Nylon)

The scientific name is nylon, and the chemical name is “polyester amine fiber”. “Nylon” is the transliteration of the famous product, and it is also commonly referred to as nylon in the market. Nylon is the earliest synthetic fiber in the world, with excellent performance and abundant raw material resources, which has been used to this day.

Advantages: Soft and lightweight, strong waterproof and windproof performance, high wear resistance, and good strength and elasticity.

Disadvantages: Not sun resistant, prone to aging, lack of ventilation, and easy snagging.
